Just move your legs !!
Because if you don't think you were born to run, you're not only denying history, you're denying who you are......
I have been competing in Endurance sports for 25+ years. For some 16 years I raced as a road cyclist competing in Time Trials, Road Races and multi-stage races. In 2002 I moved to Triathlon. The lure of new challenges fuelled my need to push new boundaries. I now consider myself an ‘Ultra’ Endurance athlete competing in Ironman Distance Races, Marathons and ‘Ultra’ Running events. Although I still love the bike, running is what makes me tick.
In 2008, I ran 8 marathons in 8 days and completed some 42 marathons, admittedly not all ‘actual’ events, but none the less, marathons. I don’t race these days for glory or times. I race for the ‘journey’. The taking part. Challenging myself to go further, longer or harder.
Running is in the blood. Running is a lifestyles choice. We all line up in events knowing that only one person will cross the line first. So, why take part!? We all have something to achieve. We all have personal barriers to cross and ultimately we all love having fun. Sport and coaching is not something I do outside my life, it is my life!! I want to be part of the process that takes an individual dream and makes it a reality. Pushing barriers, achieving goals, hitting targets all within a well structured plan that takes into consideration your time, your ability and your personal goals.
I’m South African by birth, grew up in Europe and have spent most of my adult and working life in Paris. I started road running in my early thirties and 9 months later entered my first ultra-marathon Comrades in South Africa. I was bitten by the bug and haven’t looked back since. Although I’ve probably run more than 80 marathons in 15 years what appeals to me most is probably ultra-distance and more specifically trail whether in the desert, snow, mountains at night or in stages.
Races I’ve enjoyed and participated in include: Comrades (13 finishes as of 2011), Marathon des Sables, Raid de la Réunion, Saintélyon, 100km de Millau,100km de Kléder, 100km de Royan, 100km de Loire Béconnais, 100km de Theillay, 160km Washie, South Africa, Le Raid 28, 50km des Dômes, Le Grand Trail du Nord, Le Trail SQY Race, 24 hours Stein, Trail du Vulcain
