In the heart of Aravis Mountains, between Megève and La Clusaz, La Giettaz offers the charm of a traditional village-resort at the gateway to Mont-Blanc.
La Giettaz gives direct access to more than 130 km of signposted trails of all levels of difficulty. runwildrunfree will provide guides & coaches that will provide made-to-measure itineraries suited to your level, to ensure you get the most from Val d’Arly’s trails. Each day will have trail runs of varying length in ability based groups. Our camp is designed to enhance your experience in the mountains, yes, we want to challenge you, but ultimately our aim is to provide you with a wonderful experience in the Aravis Mountains. We will also cater for families. One of the bonuses of the trail in this area is that we are able to offer 'randonee' for those who do not wish to run. Perfectly suited for Dads or Mums to spend time on the trail with the kids.
Our base for our stay is the stunning Chalet La Giettaz. The Chalet offers 11 apartments of varying size allowing you and us to customize your stay based on your budget and needs. Each apartment has a kitchen with all modern facilities, a lounge/dining area with TV, bathroom with bath & shower, en-suite (where applicable) and of course bedrooms with either twin, double or bunk beds. Flexibility is key to your holiday at Chalet La Giettaz. Our apartment configurations mean that, no matter the size and style of your party, we can accommodate you in comfort. We can cater for couples preferring privacy, large groups of friends wanting adjacent apartments and shared terraces, as well as families looking to make use of our child-friendly apartments, the village crèche and an on-site baby-sitting service.
Situated in one large chalet, all of our spacious apartments benefit from spectacular views across the valley, and have been furnished with real comfort in mind in order to provide restful and welcoming accommodation in a beautiful mountain setting. Guests at Chalet La Giettaz can enjoy a range of catering options. Breakfast is provided each morning with baguette, croissant or pain au chocolat purchased early morning and left at your apartment ready for you to collect as and when you require it. If you are on a budget, we are also able to offer a three course evening meal in Bar L’Escale. We also offer a twice-weekly grocery-shopping service, allowing you to get on with the important business of enjoying your holiday without worrying about making it to the supermarket before it closes. Our fully-fitted kitchens have all the cooking equipment you'll need, and you don’t even have to worry about the washing up: all our apartments have dishwashers fitted as standard! Each apartment also has a proper oven and four-ring hob, full-size fridge, microwave, toaster, kettle, pans, cooking knives and chopping boards, peeler, masher, grater, garlic press, corkscrew, coffee pot, salad bowl, colander, and quality crockery and cutlery.
The Bar is a relaxed and welcoming space inviting you to settle in and discuss the day’s exploits on the mountain over a cold beer, a glass of wine or a luxurious mug of hot chocolate. Sink into one of the comfy sofas beside the wood-burning stove, share a table with your friends and family, or simply pull up a stool at the bar and soak up the friendly atmosphere. Dinner is availabe at a cost of 25 euros per person per night. Children may eat at a discount and all food with be customized to any particular dietary needs and of course will be balanced for a typical athletes/ runners requirements.
Situated on the lower level of the complex, the spa area has a large hot tub and a sauna, as well as private showers and changing rooms. A leisurely soak in the hot tub or a lazy stretch in the sauna is a great way to revitalise tired muscles following a hard day on the piste, ready for the next day’s activities. Bathrobes and slippers are provided to all guests at the start of your holiday, and additional towels are available in the spa area.
Each party of guests are able to reserve exclusive use of the spa area, ensuring a completely private relaxation experience, and we can arrange for local massage therapists to visit you on-site.

Walking affectionately known as 'randonee' will be provided by runwildrunfree as an alternative to running. Take advantage of the many 'Cols' as ridden by the Pro's in the Tour de France and either bring your road bike or we can arrange for you to hire one. La Giettaz is nestled within some of the 'greats' of the Tour such as 'Col des Aravis', Col de Croix Fry, Col de Forclaz, Col de Saises and the Col de la Colombiere. Quad Biking, Segway, Climbing, Via Ferrata, Horse Riding or if you want a real treat, Hot Air Ballooning. As part of your stay, we will have one afternoon set aside where we will offer 'Paragliding' in tandem from either La Clusaz or from the Col de Forclaz - cost 85 euro payable locally.

La Clusaz - approximately 8-10k away from La Giettaz and offers plenty of facilities for your summer vacation. A selection of excellent restaurants serving Savoyard Specialities, a weekly market selling food, clothing and trinkets, a multitude of sports shops selling clothing, shoes and of course skiing equipment.

The village also has a superb network of ski lifts to provide access to high passes providing the opportunity for families to access high viewpoints without the strain of running up.... but surely that is part of the fun! In addition, La Clusaz offers great entertainment for children with an ice rink, luge, zip wire, trampolines and bike hire.
Annecy - the jewel of Haute Savoie. A beautiful lake and a wonderful old town offering narrow alleys, restaurants, shops and of course boat trips or swimmimg in the Lake. Annecy is approximately 40km (45 mins) away from La Giettaz and is definitely worth a day trip.
Chamonix - 75 mins away by road and as part of our week we will arrange a day trip to coincide with the UTMB. We will be able to visit the village, go to the UTMB expo, hopefully meet a couple of 'ultra' stars and then relax. This trip will be scheduled for Thursday and will incur an additional charge of 20 euro pp (t&c apply)
The WeekTHE WEEK
Our week is based around you, the client. We are offering a flexible arrival day of Saturday, Sunday or Monday and a departure day of Saturday, Sunday or Monday. A minimum requirement is 7 days stay but you may stay an additional night for 25 euro per person. One key advantage of our flexible arrival/ departure days id to provide you with ultimate flexibily.
Please keep in mind that our week includes entry into a trail race, 'La Belier' which will take place on Sunday. The race offers several distances, either a 27k 0r 13k run or the option to 'randonee'. Monday in the UK is a bank holiday, so, we feel that this offers great potential to prolong your stay and take advantage of the public holiday.
Training- Each day will have a trail run or randonee with a coach/ guide normally starting at 0800. Distances and timing will vary but expect a short day to be 2 hours and a long day to be 6, maybe 8 hours depending on client requirements. We encourage all to test and push themselves as this camp is geared towards progression. However, we want to ensure that we provide several paced groups to ensure that you are each within your comfort zone.
Talks - Alternate days we will have guest speakers (tbc) providing talks on training, nutrition and racing. These sessions will be relaxed, informal and take place in the Bar. All sessions will have a Q&A and we encourage participation from all camp attendees.

Hoka One One test facility offering the latest trail shoes available to test on your run. Shoe sizes 6.5 UK to 11.5 UK. We will provide the option to purchase with a discount of 20% on rrp. Please email in advance if you would like a specific size or model and in particular, if you would like to purchase shoes for the training week. Our test shoe will be the 2012 Stinson B Evo.
'La Belier' trail race/ randonee. Included in the holiday package is individual entry in La Belier trail race which takes part on the final Sunday of the holiday. It is possible to take part in one of three options and you are able to run or walk. This is a great family event and the variety of distances mean that all can take part.
Meals - Depending on if you choose to have dinner at La Giettaz, self cater or eat locally, runwildrunfree will be able to offer advice and help. We plan to have a 'camp' meal on the first and last night of the holiday and we encourage all to take part. This will take place in a local restaurant in either in La Giettaz or La Clusaz. For those eating at Bar L'Escale, dinner will be served at 19:30 and we can accommodate 20 people per sitting. If required, we will have two sittings per evening should numbers demand. Dining times will be amended accordingly and we will notify in due course.
Transport - Depending on your plans for the week, you may very well not need a car. However, we do recommend a hire car (or travel by car from the UK) if you wish to explore the surrounding area. At the Chalet, we have an 8 seater mini bus and we can arrange transportation locally as and when required for an applicable charge.
Travel Arrangements
By Air - The Haute Savoie region is serviced by Geneva Airport. It is possible to gain flights from the UK with several budget airlines. If you book in advance, travel per person can be very reasonable. We are able to offer a collection service from Geneva Airport. Costs per person will be 85 euro with the potential to reduce this cost per person if we can coordinate with multiple arrivals.
By Car - If possible, this is our recommended mode of transport. Annecy and La Clusaz is serviced by the excellent French Autoroute system. It is possible to make the journey from the UK and arrive in Savoie within one day. If you rrange for a Eurotunnel crossing of approximately 6/7am, you will easily be in La Giettaz by 6pm in the evening. Road tolls are approximately £75 each way and expect to pay approximately £200 for a Eurotunnel crossing. The benefits of car travel are threefold - reduced cost per person, a mode of transport whilst in Savoie and flexibilty.
Hire Cars - If traveling by plane, we strongly recommend you book car hire in advance and arrange collection and delivery at Geneva Airport. To help reduce costs, we are happy to help coordinate individuals, couples or groups so that you may benefit from a car share.
Costs
Depending on your requirements, we are offering a Per Person cost of £395 this includes accommodation, breakfast, coaching, talks, entry to 'La Belier' and all the facilities at Chalet La Giettaz. Children will be charged at £225.
Should you wish to book an apartment for your own exclusive use or to share with friends, we are able to offer individual apartment prices as follows. Please note that I have specified how many people per apartment and what facilities are available.

Dinner at Bar L'Escale is available at £25 per person, per night. You may book any combination of days (with 24hr notice) or have dinner included every night for a reduction in price. Dinner for 7 nights at a cost of £140 per person.
Additional Nights - Accommodation is available at £20 per person per night in addition to the minimum 7 night stay. This is useful should you arrive Saturday and wish to depart Monday (bank holiday in the UK)
BOOKING
Available at www.runwildrunfree.co.uk.We require a non-refundable 25% deposit per person or a 25% deposit if you are wishing to book an apartment outright.Payments are accepted via PayPal or Bank Transfer.Final balance is due on or before June 1st 2012.We are offering a monthly payment option for those who may wish to spread the cost of the holiday over 6 months. This will commence in January 2012 and stop in June - a total of 6 monthly paymments.
